Finishing Stapler/Narrow Crown

Cost each: $135

Several projects in the Employment Transition Construction Labourer program require students to work with cedar shingles, and an air stapler is a great way to fasten them. Last year, the program borrowed equipment for student use. The program would benefit from having at least two finishing staplers for ongoing student use. With only one in the shop, students are often waiting to use it.

General Band Drill Press

Cost each: $420

Often in the shop, students use larger drill bits on our projects that are not suited for a hand drill. Some projects require the accuracy of a perfect vertical hole. Last year, the program borrowed equipment for student use. The program would benefit from having this equipment available for ongoing student use.

General Band Saw

Cost each: $799

This stationary band saw would allow students to produce more creative and intricate projects in the shop. Currently, students have to achieve the same outcome with a hand held jig saw, but often the cuts end up sloppy or poorly angled due to the deflection of the jig saw blade.
