In Honour & Memoriam

In Honour and Memoriam Today the TL'axsam Memorial Bursary honours former Comox Valley MLA Stan Hagen and preserves his legacy as an advocate for First Nations and education.

Share the memory of your loved one and their special connection to students, their community and education by making a gift or creating a legacy in honour and memoriam through the NIC Foundation.

Ways to Make a Gift in Memory

The ways to give in memory can be as unique as each person we honour. The NIC Foundation has a long tradition of helping families and friends pay tribute to individuals through gifts that are meaningful to that person. Our team is here to guide you through our giving opportunities that will preserve and share your loved one's legacy.

Establish a Memorial Scholarship or Bursary

With a named memorial scholarship or bursary for students, you can create a lasting tribute and provide a way that your loved one can be recognized and celebrated for generations to come. You can choose the personal qualities or achievements that you would like to nurture or recognize such as academic achievement in a particular area or subject, leadership and community involvement. A memorial award can be made once, annually or in perpetuity with an endowment through scholarships and bursaries.

Name a Building or Classroom in their Memory

You can create a legacy and make an impact on student success by supporting a laboratory, classroom, or building. Many naming opportunities are available at NIC campuses.

Direct Group Donations in their Honour

Should you wish to include information in an obituary to direct memorial gifts to the NIC Foundation, we offer the following wording sample:

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the NIC Foundation, in memory of [individual's name].

Donate online at foundation.nic.bc.ca or mail cheques payable to the NIC Foundation: North Island College Foundation, 2300 Ryan Road, Courtenay, BC, V9N 8N6

All charitable donations over $20 receive a tax receipt. Donations in memory of an individual will be acknowledged to family members unless anonymity is requested.
