Charitable Remainder Trusts

With a charitable remainder trust (CRT), you can make a significant future gift to students and education, receive income from the capital for life, and realize tax benefits now.

By entering into a charitable remainder trust, you can make a significant deferred gift to the NIC Foundation. The actual gift – or capital – has been legally promised to NIC upon your passing, but you will receive the income earned by the capital during your lifetime. You will also immediately receive a tax receipt for the value of your gift, which can be applied towards current and future income.

  • You can continue to enjoy the assets during your lifetime.
  • Depending on the nature of your CRT, you or your estate could receive a receipt for income tax purposes which would lower taxes on other income.
  • You get the satisfaction of making a significant gift that benefits you now and the NIC Foundation later.
