President, North Island College
John Bowman
"Education is a commodity that never depreciates throughout a person’s lifetime. The NIC Foundation Board values the opportunity to support and celebrate our students’ dreams, passions and goals and we are honoured to work with generous people in our community who make this possible through student awards, bursaries and scholarships."

John Bowman has served as President of North Island College since August 2013. He began his career in the BC post-secondary education system in 1990 at Kwantlen College. Since that time, John held a variety of administrative leadership roles prior to being appointed President of the College of New Caledonia in 2006, where he served until moving to Vancouver Island.

John is passionate about the community college system values of access, student success, responsiveness, relevance and accountability. He is dedicated to the important role public community colleges play in enabling people to complete education and training close to home, and to the colleges’ role in supporting economic, social and community development.

John earned a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University (2003) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba (1983).
